April 18 Thought for the day...no missed opportunities

Have you noticed there are some opportunities, (jobs, investments, purchases)  that we must take advantage quickly? There are things that happen, and we have to know that now is the time and this is the opportunity! The natural opportunities are something we have to use wisdom and intelligent decision-making techniques to make them work for us, but there is one opportunity that we simply need our Father's heart not to miss out!

"I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work." John 9:4

Jesus is giving us an example of opportunities all around us. First, He is saying here that every "day" because of the Father's heart for people, we have opportunities to share the good news of the powerful love of Christ to people in our lives.

Jesus is saying it is something in all of us that should be a driving force. When He says "I must," He is saying,  I am compelled, I have no choice, there is no option, it is essential to do "the works" of Him. "The works" means it is something that completely occupies our thoughts, attitudes, and actions.

The idea of "sent" gives the picture of a specific assignment, task, or mission of which we will be held accountable. It could be said this way, "I was given a very specific mission, I will answer to the one who sent me for how I carry out this assignment.

Jesus alerts us that there are limitations to our opportunities (day). The Father will give them to us, but we only have the time He specifically gives us. There will be a time, where if we do not take advantage of the opportunity, it will be lost to us.

Another way of saying this verse is, "We are compelled by the Father to complete the task the He will provide for us. He gives us opportunities, very specific to who we are and where we are, and we must accept that we only have limited time to fulfill what He has called us to do and we are accountable to Him for these opportunities."

Each of us is unique in our gifts, talents, personalities, God created us that way to bless us and to impact our world. You will change your world if you take the opportunities God provides for you. It may be totally different than the opportunities someone else is given, but it is just as important. Don't miss out! No missed opportunities
