What are your expectations?

Do you have great expectations? That is not just the name of classic book but something we need to have for this weekend. The Lord is preparing us to do great things. My job as a ministry leader is to equip the saints for the work of service (Ephesians 4:11). It takes the five-fold ministry to do that properly, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, and evangelist. Brian Davis is coming this weekend to help us with the equipping. Where are your expectations?

In 2 Kings chapter 5 we find the story of Naaman, the general of the greatest army against Israel. He had developed leprosy so he went to the prophet Elisha for healing. Elisha was willing to heal him, because of God’s instruction but was not willing to see him so here is what happened.

But Naaman became furious, and went away and said, “Indeed, I said to myself, ‘He will surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy.’ 12Are not the Abanah and the Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and went away in a rage. 2 Kings 5:11,12

Naaman had false expectations. He expected God to work one way but God decided to work another way. He nearly missed his healing because he wanted to fit God into his box rather than allowing God to be God.

I am expecting great things this weekend for you, our church, and our region. Please come expecting God, not to work in your box, but to work in his way. He will minister to you this weekend, if you come expecting. Allow Him to reach you I the way that is ultimately the best for you!

Some keys for this weekend:

1) Pray for Brian’s strength. He can only minister as long as his physical body can handle it
2) Pray for others to receive. Remember Ephesians 6:8
3) Welcome the Lord to accomplish everything He wants to this weekend. Remember when Jesus went into Nazareth, He was limited because of the people’s lack of faith
